Tired of the Propaganda

Follow the Money Trail

I need to get something off of my chest before I dig too deep into this.  And I would suspect that most of you probably share similar feelings of frustration and anger.

I am tired of being told “who” and “what” I should vote for by the media and establishment types!  I am tired of the Republican National Committee (RNC) Z7Mri5KHplaying favorites and trying to influence primary and election processes!  I am tired of listening to the supposed “fair and balanced” network praising a favored candidate in hopes that it will persuade the uninformed to vote for “their” candidate or against another!  I am tired of the establishment republican leadership on Capitol Hill!  They don’t rule over us, and it’s time we got loud and pushed back!

The first step in fighting back is to make an educated decision.  We need to take a look into who these candidates are and what they stand for.  It’s critically important that one avoids the temptation to be swept away by a wave of popularism.  Being popular and making news because you are a loudmouth is not what we are looking for in a conservative candidate.  We are looking for someone who is principled.  Someone who can not only articulate conservative values, but prove they are equipped to deliver on what they say.

Unfortunately, far too many buy into the propaganda. There are a lot of signs that voters often overlook when choosing a candidate.   It’s been said, “if you ConservativeReviewwant to know about someone, take a look at the company they keep.”  Just this afternoon I read an excellent article from ConservativeReview.com.  The article, entitled, 2016 GOP Endorsements: Quality v Quantitydoes an outstanding job of breaking down the endorsements received by the 2016 GOP candidates.

Every smart salesperson knows, it’s far more important to have fewer customers who you can trust to pay, than to have many customer who don’t.  This article demonstrates that this same principle holds true regarding presidential endorsements.  Though I very much encourage you to read the article (as I can not do justice to how well it was composed), I have included a recap of the article in a table below.  The table identifies each of the top three GOP candidates, the number of congressional endorsements received, the average Conservative Review Liberty Score® of these endorsements, the Conservative Review Liberty Score® Rating for these endorsements, and the number of endorsements from congressmen with an “F” rating.

Candidate      Endorsements  Avg Conservative Review Liberty Score® of Endorsement Rating   # of F ratings
Donald Trump  40  56%  F  20
Marco Rubio  56  54%  F  36
Ted Cruz  24  83%  B  1

As I mentioned above, “if you want to know about someone, take a look at the company they keep.”  The table above certainly paints a much clearer picture of these candidates.  Half of those who endorsed Donald Trump, and more than halftrump1rubio
who endorsed Marco Rubio have Liberty Score® ratings of “F”.  Rubio does not have a single endorsement from an “A-rated” congressman.  Pretty telling, don’t you think?  And these two candidates are using propaganda to discredit Cruz?  As a conservative, and based on these findings, I’m quite comfortable placing my trust in Ted Cruz over these two.

Endorsements are part of the story, but donors also play a role in helping define the candidates.  To his credit, I’m going to take Trump out of the equation because he’s made it clear (and rightly so) that he is mostly self-funded.  However, when we compare Cruz to Rubio, another interesting bit of information comes to light.

According to opensecrets.org (a self-proclaimed leader in research of political financing),  as of January 2016 approximately 58% of the individual contributions to Ted Cruz’ campaign came from large donors.  Likewise, 70% of individual contributions to Marco Rubio came from large donors.

But the real story comes from the individuals behind these contributions.  Let’s look at the one of the top donors for each of these two candidates.  Starting with Rubio, one of his major contributors is Larry-EllisonLarry Ellison, Executive Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Oracle Corporation.  Why is that important?  Oracle is a major player in silicon valley and Ellison has unapologetic-ally supported amnesty and Rubio’s Gang of Eight Bill.  Even as Rubio verbally flip-flops on immigration and amnesty, knowing where the money is coming from seems to makes it quite obvious as to which side of that issue Rubio will fall.

On the other hand, one of Ted  Cruz’ major supporters is Robert Mercer, co-CEO of Renaissance Technologies  According to Bloomberg.com, Mercer has “…spent tens of millions to advance a conservative agenda, investing in think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation, (and) the media outlet Breitbart.com.  Groups he funds have attacked the science of global warming,  (and) published a book critical of Hillary Clinton.”   Again, we see quite the contrast between Cruz and Rubio.

If you want a quick education on who the candidates are and what they stand for, look at the people who surround them and follow the money trail.

How Do You Know It’s Broke if You Don’t Follow the Laws?

How Do You Know It’s Broke if You Don’t Follow the Laws?

I got to thinking recently about the rhetoric that is constantly thrown about regarding immigration in this country.  We hear pundits, politicians, and other media mouthpieces go on and on about “immigration reform”.   They say things like, “The system is broken” or “we are a country of immigrants”.

I take exception to much of this rhetoric.  The political correctness crowd has made it difficult for some to speak the truth, especially politicians.  Many of these politicians, particularly those on the republican side, become so fearful of media backlash that they flounder on the issue of immigration.  If you look at record for many of these candidates, they’ve never taken a hard stand one way or the other.  rubioWe are all aware of Rubio’s flipping on this issue.  He ran for the US Senate in the State of Florida by taking a conservative approach to immigration, but almost immediately did a “180” when he arrived on Capitol Hill.

During the 2012 Presidential election, Donald Trump was criticizing Mitt Romney for being too tough on immigration.  In this election cycle, we don’t know what Trump stands for.  The only thing we can say for certain, is that he’s going to build a wall.  He’s told us this thousands of times.  Yet, he flip-flops on how to handle illegal immigration.

bw-trump.finger-1024x699He gives the impression that he will take a tough stand on the issue only to suggest that after deporting illegal immigrants, they will be invited back legally.  This practice is more commonly referred to as “touchback”.  Many of Trump’s critics have labeled this practice as a form of Amnesty.

Ted Cruz has been the only candidate who has been consistent on immigration.  He has taken a constitutional, conservative approach to illegal immigration from the very beginning.  And by “the very beginning”, I’m referring to his run for the US Senate seat in Texas.  Marco Rubio has erroneously accused Cruz of flipping on immigration.  The video below is evidence that Cruz has remained consistent on this issue.

Despite what you hear, we are not a nation of “immigrants”.  We are a nation of “citizens”.  Our citizens are made up of those natural born and those immigrants who were naturalized (followed a legal process towards citizenship).  Citizens who were naturalized, were once immigrants who later assimilated.  The United States is not a nation obligated to allowing immigrants into this country who want to impose their culture and laws on others within the United States.   Immigrants MUST assimilate and abide by the laws of this country.

The media and left-wing activists will also label conservatives as “haters”, “heartless”, “zealots”, and “racist” for opposing Amnesty.  Don’t believe any of that.  Conservatives believe in immigration.  Legal forms of immigration!  Conservatives believe in assimilation and that following the rule of law in the United States is essential to assimilation.  And herein lies the problem…our government has decided not to follow the law.

parenting (1)Parenting can teach us a lot about a common sense approach to issues.  It is one thing for a parent to define rules for their children.  It is another thing to enforce those rules.  Parents who fail to enforce rules early on will find it difficult to enforce rules later in life.  Their children will lose respect for them.

In this country, we have rules for immigration.  They’re called laws.  If we don’t enforce them, how can anyone be expected to follow them?  Do we need complete immigration reform?  Is the system broke?  How do you know it’s broke if you don’t follow the laws?  There is no respect for the current laws if they’re not being enforced. Before this country invests in immigration reform, our government needs to be effective in enforcing current law.  That is the conservative position.  And it doesn’t make you a “hater”, “heartless”, a “zealot”, nor “racist”.

Official Endorsement

Official Endorsement

It has been an interesting week to say the least regarding the 2016 Republican Presidential race.  As recent as today, John Kasich referred to himself as the “Prince of Light and Hope” during an interview on the Hugh Hewitt show.  He also referred to his opponents as “Prince(s) of Darkness“.  This was perhaps the most headline worthy comments to come from him during what has been a very boring and lackluster campaign.

Earlier this week, we also saw Sarah Palin, a Tea Party favorite, go to Iowa and bw-trump.finger-1024x699endorse Donald Trump.  As a long time conservative and Tea Party member, I have to admit that I found the endorsement not only shocking, but mystifying.  Let’s face it, The Donald’s presence in this Republican Primary race has had a lot of value.  His often abrasive, yet fearless approach to address issues has breathed a sigh of relief into what could have potentially been a boring primary season.  He’s primarily responsible for forcing the other candidates to tackle the immigration issue head-on and he hasn’t been afraid to discuss military funding.  But all of this doesn’t make him a true conservative.  And so it came as quite a surprise to see Palin jump on the Trump bandwagon.

rubioMarco Rubio continued to play the role of a moving target on Amnesty while taking part in an interview on “Meet the Press” over the weekend.  The fast talking Rubio said, “If you’re a criminal alien, no, you can’t stay. If you’re someone that hasn’t been here for a very long time, you can’t stay.”  He continued,  “I don’t think you’re gonna round up and deport 12 million people.”  Marco clearly stopped short of saying that all illegal aliens can’t stay.  He was very specific about those who he considered “criminals”.  There are several problems with Marco’s position.  One of which involves those illegals who have entered this country with a visa and have allowed their visas to expire, yet they remain in this country.  Rubio did not include this group among those who can’t stay.  In reality, staying on an expired visa is against the law, and there is a significant proportion of illegals who fall into that category.

carsonPerhaps the saddest story of the week belonged to Dr. Ben Carson’s campaign.  Carson was in South Carolina earlier in the week when he announced that he was going to temporarily suspend his campaign activities so he could return to Iowa where members of his staff were involved in an automobile accident.  Sadly, Braden Joplin, 25, of Midland, Texas died as a result of the accident.  Braden was a volunteer with the Carson campaign and was a passenger in the vehicle along with two other campaign volunteers.  Ben Carson may be the single most decent candidate in the entire presidential race.  He is an inspiration to many and has been a valuable contributor to the primary.  Though his ideas, policies, and positions are among the best in this pack of candidates, his soft-spoken nature has been his downfall.  I can easily see a place for Dr. Carson as a cabinet member for the Republican nominee, where he can continue to be an asset to the conservative cause.

As you know, there are other Republican candidates in this primary race.  But there isn’t time to address each of them.  However, there is one who stands above the rest.  He is the truest conservative among the candidates.  As a member of Congress he has a Liberty Score rating of 97% on ConservativeReview.com, where he is second only to Senator Mike Lee, Utah.  This candidate has taken on the establishment in Washington DC.  He has embodied the spirit and values of conservatism.  This summer, he took to the floor of the US Senate and publicly called out the Senate Majority Leader for lying to those he leads.  Conservatives applauded this act, while the media and Republican establishment chided him for it.

This candidate is everything the Washington elite are not.  This candidate is hated by them and has even caused some of them to warm up to Donald Trump, in fear that this candidate will become the Republican nominee.   He is solid on his position on immigration, religious freedom, national security, and the 2nd Amendment.  He stood on the Senate floor for over 20 hours in hopes of defunding Obamacare when other phony Republicans only gave conservative Americans lip-service.  He has been true to the values and promises he made to his constituents in his State of Texas.  There are very few in Washington DC who can even claim to honor half of what they’ve promised.  He is a man of action, not just words.  He is of course, Senator Ted Cruz.

My Approved PortraitsIf the above is not reason enough for Backbenchers.us to endorse Sen. Cruz, the establishment elites in Washington who continue to slam him are.  According to a recent study performed by Rasmussen Reports, “just nine percent (9%) of likely U.S. Voters think Congress is doing a good or excellent job.  Fifty-nine percent (59%) now think Congress is doing a poor job.”  If members of Congress are unworthy of the trust of the American people, then why should we trust any one of them who want to end Cruz’s bid for the presidency.   The Washington elite will be among the first to tell you that Ted Cruz is NOT one of them.  I say AMEN TO THAT!

Obama’s Hypocrisy

Obama’s Gun Grab Hypocrisy

“And from(for?) every family who never imagined that their loved one would be taken from our lives by a bullet from a gun.”  This was the sentence that started what some are calling “crocodile tears” from Obama in yesterday’s announcement.  He then went on to politicize the shooting in Newtown, Ct. saying, “Every time I think about those kids, it makes me mad.”

US Democratic presidential candidate Illinois Senator Barack Obama sheds tears while talking about his grandmother Madelyn Dunham who raised him and passed away this morning, during a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, November 03, 2008. AFP PHOTO/Emmanuel Dunand (Photo credit should read EMMANUEL DUNAND/AFP/Getty Images)

Obama will continue to promote increased restrictions on guns saying, “We know we can’t stop every act of violence.  Every act of evil in the world.  But maybe we could try to stop one act of evil, one act of violence.”  What Obama chooses to overlook is how his policies have had a hand in the deaths of many men, women, and children in this country.  However,  he and the media will turn a blind eye to all of this.  Though the examples are many, let’s take a moment to point out a few of Obama’s policies that have and may continue to have an impact on the safety of Americans.

Fast and Furious39730_article_fullTwo men, Ivan Soto-Barraza and Jesus Sanchez-Meza, were found guilty of murdering U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry with guns supplied by the U.S. government in a failed attempt to track weapons to Mexican druglords.

Sanctuary Cities

Thirty-two year old Kathryn “Kate” Steinle was shot in the back by an illegal immigrant on July 1, 2015 as she was walking with her father along San Francisco’s scenic Embarcadero waterfront.  Some have called this a “breakdown of the system”, as an immigrant with an extensive criminal record was set free to roam San Francisco, a city identified by the Obama administration as a sanctuary city.

Bowe Bergdahl/Guantanamo Prisoner ExchangeBowe_Bergdahl_2792424bIn May 2014, President Obama’s administration brokered an exchange of 5 Guantanamo Bay prisoners for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who recently entered no plea at a hearing before his court-martial scheduled for later this month.  In return for Bergdahl, Obama released 5 top Al Qaeda prisoners, who have reportedly sought out to renew their terrorist activities.

Unconstitutional Immigration Policies

If Obama were truly interested in saving lives, he ought to reconsider his policies on immigration.  He shed tears at the thought of lives being lost during yesterday’s speech, but not a single tear was shed for those lives lost in America due to his conscious effort not to enforce existing immigration law.  A long list of of crimes committed by illegal aliens can be found here.  But a few of those listed below demonstrate just how heinous some of these crimes were:

  • December 2015 — A 40-year-old illegal alien, Michael Rodriguez Garcia, was sentenced to four life terms for the rape and sodomy of two children in Alabama. (Breitbart News, December 19, 2015)
  • June 2015A Salvadoran, Mauricio Hernandez, convicted of rape and murder of the baby born to his victim was sentenced to 50 years in prison in Texas and faces deportation when he has served his sentence. (The Dallas Morning News, June 5, 2015)

Before Obama’s followers and the media get all worked up over his tears, they should be putting his feet to the fire.  He should be forced to answer the following questions:

  1. If you are so moved by “every family who never imagined that their loved one would be taken from our lives by a bullet from a gun”, why aren’t you equally moved by every family who have lost a loved one at the hands of an illegal alien?
  2. Weren’t you moved enough by the loss of Kate Steinle to speak out against Harry Reid when he blocked a vote on “Kate’s Law“?
  3. Why have you run away from the Fast and Furious scandal?
  4. All federally licensed firearms dealers (FFLs) are already required to request a background check for every gun sale, which is performed by the FBI (another federal agency). Why do your executive actions target law abiding citizens when it is agencies of the federal government who are responsible for approval of all gun sales by FFLs?

I would like to think his tears were a show of real emotion.  Unfortunately you can count me among those who question his sincerity and instead believe his tears were just a plain “show”.

Criminals Win Again

Logo1

Under Obama- Criminals Win

In August 2011, owners of a small family operated gun shop in New Mexico were arrested for gun trafficking.  The family of four (Rick Reese, his wife Terri, and their two sons, Ryan and Remington) were accused of selling weapons illegally to Mexican gun smugglers.  It would be six months before Terri Reese was granted bail and was released from jail.  Rick and his sons were considered to be flight risks, and therefore were never granted bail.

Interestingly, all of this came down right on the heels of the “Fast and Furious” scandal.  In what has been described by some as a “speedy Kangaroo trial”, Rick Reese and his family were expeditiously jailed.  By all appearances, the Obama Administration, and in particular Eric Holder, needed a diversion from the failed “Fast and Furious” operation.  For those who are unfamiliar with or have forgotten about the “Fast and Furious” operation, you can read about it here.  39730_article_fullThe story surrounding the Reese family would provide the Obama Administration with a convenient two-fold objective.  It would first serve as an opportunity to divert attention away from Eric Holder, and second it would further the administration’s efforts for increased gun regulation.

However, there were a number of problems with the Reese situation.  An undercover informant, Penny Torres, had been sent to the Reese’s place of business on various occasions to make firearm purchases.  In each case, the Reese family member involved in the sale followed proper protocol, had a background check performed, and had each sale approved by the FBI.  In addition to that, all paperwork was correct, all transactions were properly recorded, and all inventory records were in order.

Ironically, after one of the purchases, Terri Reese began to suspect something was not quite right.  She called a local law enforcement officer with whom she was familiar and informed him that she felt she may have sold guns to someone she now suspects to be a gavelgunwalker (a term used to describe those who buy guns and illegally carry them over the border into Mexico).  This was somewhat disturbing to her because all purchases that were made by Torres had been approved by the FBI after a supposed background check.  Nonetheless, the Reese family had their lives flipped upside down.  (Last January, Jeff Knox at www.wnd.com wrote an article with developments surrounding the Reese family issues.)

While all of this was going on, the “Fast and Furious” operation was starting to gain traction in Congress and in February 2012, Eric Holder would eventually testify before Congress.  Darrell Issa, a California Republican who headed the House Oversight and Government Committee investigation into “Fast and Furious” demanded access to additional documents from Eric Holder’s Justice Department in order for the investigation to proceed.   Holder denied this request and was threatened with contempt charges.  Ultimately, the Obama Administration invoked “executive privilege” to deny the release of those documents, perhaps in an effort to cover up any wrongdoing.

All of this tells us that laws aren’t equally applied (if at all).  If you are a law abiding citizen, you are evidently in a different class.  It is apparently fair to send a family to jail for alleged involvement in gunwalking activities, even after following the law, and after a federal agency (FBI) supported every gun sale.  It is also apparently fair to deny Congress access to information that might implicate the Obama Administration in gunwalking activities in an effort to keep them free from the law.

So as we turn the calendar to 2016, Obama’s administration is ready to do more damage.  He and his administration are prepared to announce new executive actions on guns.  Law abiding business owners and law abiding citizens are once again about to pay another price.  “We know that we can’t stop every act of violence,” Obama said. “But what if we tried to stop even one? What if Congress did something — anything — to protect our kids from gun violence?” obamaimages

Isn’t it sad to see Obama increasingly exploiting children to rationalize his radical agenda?  What about all of those children who die each year at the hands of Planned Parenthood?  Let Congress do something to protect those children.  But I digress…

A New Year’s Eve threat of violence was averted just the other day.  The alleged attacker was planning on using a machete in an attack on diners in Rochester, NY.  Had it not been averted, what gun law would have prevented it?  I think it’s only fair for the Obama Administration to explain in detail exactly which law(s), if enacted, would have prevented any of the mass shootings that he continues to politicize.  Which law(s) does he believe will make criminals have a change of heart and make them willing to comply?

You see, under Obama the criminals win.  Lawless actions are seemingly okay, especially if you and your administration might be complicit in them.  Law abiding citizens already follow the law.  The Reese family was following the law.   And you and I will follow the law, even under stricter regulation.  As for criminals?  Not likely.

Gerrymandering

California Driving US Crazy!

I know this is relatively old news, but it is important to address since it has potential implications for the upcoming elections.  Back in October, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law, a bill which would open the door for illegal aliens to vote in local, state, and federal elections (“Motor Voter Law”).  Essentially anyone who holds a California drivers license will automatically be registered to vote via the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) database. 1969To be fair, the bill holds the Secretary of State’s Office responsible for checking voter eligibility of those who become registered to vote.  This would only make sense since some of those who acquire a drivers license are likely to be underage and ineligible to vote.  But what about those who have entered the country illegally?  California has also made it legal for illegal aliens (an oxymoron if there ever was one, or perhaps it’s just plain moronic) to obtain a state drivers license.  The new “Motor Voter Law” all but guarantees an increase in voter fraud.  It will be a difficult task for the state to distinguish between citizen and non-citizen holders of drivers licenses.

Home Owner’s Associations do not allow non-residents to vote on bi-laws. Universities only allow eligible members to vote on academic related issues. Only shareholders are eligible to vote for corporate policy and board of directors, etc.. So why would Jerry Brown do this?  voteThe argument coming out of the governor’s office is that the bill was a response to low voter turnout.  By automatically registering people to vote, turnout would increase.  Of course the problem with this argument is that part of this increase is likely to come from non-citizens.  The “Motor Voter Law” is gerrymandering in disguise.  A democratic governor is well aware of the impact this will have on the construct of the voting populace in his state.  A state which has the highest number of electoral votes for the upcoming presidential election in 2016.

We need to protect the integrity of our election process.  Voting is not a human right granted to everyone.  It is a right given only to those who meet specific criteria that makes them eligible.  I encourage all eligible voters to vote.  Your voice and vote is very important.  But its value is diminished and tarnished if we cannot protect the integrity of the process.

Burping up Lies

Cheerleading the lies of the left…

There has been so much propaganda and misinformation coming out following the events that took place in Paris just a week ago.  Much of this coming right from the horse’s  our president’s mouth.    Despite what several government intelligence experts have stated, Obama is insistent that we have a very stringent vetting process in place for the 10,000 Syrian refugees that he is unilaterally imposing on the American people.

Sadly, the mainstream media just blindly go along with Obama’s trail of lies and deception.  There is no real journalistic effort to call any of what he has said into question.  Much of the challenge is that Obama knows that the majority of voters and citizens in this country are these so-called “low information voters”.    These are the people who watch the network news assuming the information they see is the result of journalistic integrity.  Unfortunately, they are being misled.  Obama has become a master of deceit.  He knows that if he says it, the mainstream media will not only fail to challenge him, they will help spread his narrative.  His presidency has relied on the Praetorian guard media to protect and help him. There are many examples of  him doing this.   This week he said the following:

“When I hear political leaders suggesting that there would be a religious test for which a person who’s fleeing from a war-torn country is admitted, when some of those folks themselves come from families who benefited from protection when they were fleeing political persecution — that’s shameful.  That’s not American. That’s not who we are. We don’t have religious tests to our compassion.”

The problem with that statement is that we have had a history of using religious testing to vet refugees.  As for the media response – crickets!  Obama is also a master propagandist.  He took the opportunity to mock Ted Cruz and other conservatives saying, “They’re scared of widows and 3 year old orphans.”  It’s exactly this type of propaganda that he counts on to further his objectives.

Thankfully Rep. Trey Gowdy (SC) is not afraid to set the record straight:

Obama aside, we also see the liberal left extend their own reach of deception. Social media is a favorable avenue where you will often find them cheerleading their own lies.  Here are a few examples:

jobs

According to Snopes.com:  “Given this history, it is undeniably true that Steve Jobs’ biological father was a Syrian immigrant — but was he also a refugee? This is where the story becomes less clear. Virtually all articles detailing Jandali’s life describe him as a Syrian immigrant, not a refugee. In fact, we found no articles describing him as a refugee published prior to the November 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris. While Jandali appears to have fled Beirut around 1952 due to the unrest occurring in that country at the time, we found no evidence that he could not have safely returned to Syria afterwards.”

Then there’s this one:

od6It is American to dutifully protect the citizenry of this country.  It is American to ensure that any refugee allowed in this country has been properly vetted.  It is American to be diligent and question the acceptance of refugees after seeing the failure of refugee practices in Europe.   Congress passed a bill this week asking for more stringent and detailed vetting procedures before allowing refugees into the US.  A reasonable bill that Obama has vowed to veto.  Why?

It’s my hope that we have a new dawn in America.  An America that is awakening and is fed up with these false narratives.  But it’s up to each of us to make a difference.  It’s time to hold this president and his media mouthpieces accountable.  Let’s make that happen!

Boston Marathon Bombers were also “refugees”

Logo1

Boston Marathon Bombers were also “refugees”

For an example of what can happen when Islamic refugees are allowed into the United States we need look no further than the Boston Marathon bombers, Tamerlan & Dzhokar Tsarnaev.  As you may recall, the Tsarnaev brothers, along with the rest of their family, were granted political asylum in the United States as refugees from war-torn Chechnya.  (See here)

In addition to the grant of asylum, the Tsarnaev family collected $100,000 in various federal, state and local benefits in the form of Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), cash assistance, SSDI (Disability), and Section 8 housing assistance. http://www.wcvb.com/news/local/metro/hearing-set-to-look-at-tsarnaev-family-welfare-benefits/19933058

dzhokhar-tsarnaev-cropDzhokar Tsarnaev, the surviving brother who now sits in federal prison awaiting execution, received a $2,500 scholarship from the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts to pursue higher education. He was honored during a reception at City Hall in May of 2011.    In addition to the scholarship, Dzhokar received approximately $20,000 in tuition deferrals from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth due to economic circumstances.

In the opinion of this writer, the United States and the American people (not to mention the citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts) were more than accommodating to the Tsarnaevs.  They were welcomed into this country with open arms.  They were fed, clothed, housed and educated at the expense of hard-working, law abiding American citizens.  Despite receiving hospitality at a level that they could only dream of in their native country, the Tsarnaev brothers possessed a burning desire to kill Americans.

On April 15, 2013, they murdered an eight year old boy and two young women and maimed another 260 innocent people who were out on a beautiful day to cheer on their loved ones and other athletes as they bombers-in-crowdcrossed the finish-line of the Boston Marathon.  The brothers calmly and coldly placed bombs at the feet of their victims and simply walked away.  The images of Dzhokar Tsarnaev planting the bombs are as chilling as they are heart-breaking.  During their attempt to flee the brothers murdered a police officer. Another police officer was critically wounded during a shoot-out with the brothers and residents of numerous Boston suburbs huddled in their homes, afraid to go outdoors.

President Obama has described concerns over accepting refugees from Syria as “un-American” and “shameful”.  What would truly be shameful and un-American would be for another innocent American to be harmed by a so-called refugee.

What more could we have done for the Tsarnaevs?  Will we need to feed, clothe, house, and educate the thousands of individuals that the President wants to import? Do we need to give every one of them the keys to the city, yet continue to look over our shoulders to make sure the bombs have not been placed at our feet?Explosion at Boston marathon

State Governors are Right

States say “No” to Syrian Refugees

Governors of eight states have expressed their opposition to accepting Syrian refugees into their states as a result of the ISIS attack in Paris.  Of the eight governors,  Gov. Robert Bentley (Alabama); Gov. Mike Pence (Indiana); Gov. Greg Abbott (Texas); and Gov. Rick Snyder (Michigan)  have outright stated a refusal to accept any additional refugees into their states.  Hopefully others will follow.  Just as the President of the United States has power to issue executive orders, so too do governors.  As executive leader of each state (or commonwealth), governors are allowed to issue Executive orders for the following reasons:  “trigger emergency powers during natural disasters, energy crises, and other situations requiring immediate attention”.(http://www.nga.org/cms/home/management-resources/governors-powers-and-authority.html#executive)  And these governors are right and they should act on behalf of the citizens of their respective states.

Government, in general has a primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of its citizens.  Its responsibility does not include compromising safety for reasons of empathy.  Do I have empathy for Syrian refugees?  Of course I do.  But the problem is we do not have the capability to properly vet refugees into this country.  fbiOn September 11th of this year, the Homeland Security Chairman issued an explicit warning regarding this very issue.   Just last month, the FBI also issued a similar warning.  As thousands of refugees prepare to enter into this country, what database is used to vet them?  Even if we had a valid database of potential terrorists from Syria and elsewhere, what identification will these refugees have on them?  Does anyone believe that if a person does not have identification we will turn them away?  I would venture a guess that few, if any of the refugees who are truly in need have valid identification.  What about those with false identification?  Surely none of those infiltrating the country will admit to being a terrorist. (See the 4 Stages of Islamic Conquest/Jihad, particularly the first stage).

Suppose our vetting process was better than the experts believe.  Suppose we are able to vet refugees with 99% accuracy.  Quite optimistic.  This means out of 10,000 Syrian refugees, the potential exists for allowing 100 refugees with terrorist ties into this country.  In this person’s opinion, that is 100 too many!  Today’s news indicate Obama now plans to bring in 45,000 of these refugees.  This is national suicide. The meme to the right might just say it best: Ben Carson Refugees

We only see the images and videos the media want us to see.   Here are the disturbing images the media doesn’t want you to see (warning strong language and graphic images):  http://buzzpo.com/this-is-the-most-disturbing-muslim-refugee-video-you-will-ever-see

As for our president, his actions don’t back up his words.  And even his words (or lack thereof) speaks volumes.  Has he ever said “Islamic Terrorism”?  Why is it so hard for him to utter those words?  So what did Obama do while the world was rocked and glued to the tragic events in Paris?  He released 5 prisoners from Guantanamo Bay to the United Arab Emirates.  Does that sound like he’s concerned?  Does that sound like the actions of someone who hours earlier denounced (to some degree) the terrorist attacks in Paris?

It Has to be Said…

What a sad day it has been.  Seeing the scene unfold in Paris this evening is so incredibly sad, yet so maddening at the same time.  At the time of this writing, approximately 150 people have been killed  and scores injured.  parisBefore being accused of insensitivity by writing this, please know that I could not be more saddened and cannot offer enough prayers for those directly impacted by these horrific attacks today.  But despite the pain we feel in our hearts, there are some things that can’t be ignored.  As information continues to become available, it is becoming increasingly clear that these attacks were an orchestrated effort by ISIS.  Less than a year removed from the terror attack at Charlie Hebdo headquarters in Paris, and a few short months since the thwarted train attack, we are once again witness to the barbaric actions of Islamic terrorists.

Despite what Snopes may say, others have reported about said  “no-go zones” in European cities.   Earlier this year, the government in France even listed over 750 areas that were considered dangerous.  These were identified as areas with a large Islamic population who refuse to assimilate and challenge authority.   It fbihas also been well documented that similar areas exist within London.  Given the nature of this information, we have to remain vigilant here in the United States.
There are currently 22 areas right here in the USA, that have been identified as possible terrorist training camps.   The FBI has currently  listed approximately 1000 probes involving terrorist training groups (some ISIS related) here in the states.  If we think we are exempt and safe from the attacks we witnessed today, we are sadly mistaken.

“A sovereign state is generally defined to be any nation or people, whatever may be the form of its internal constitution, which governs itself independently of foreign powers.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_state).

Friends, we must remain a sovereign nation.  We cannot allow foreigners who enter this country, to do so without any intent to assimilate.  It is not compassionate nor is it safe for the citizens of a sovereign nation to allow for this.  We must close our borders, for a nation without borders cannot exist as a sovereign nation.  We are a nation of laws.  We are not a nation that allows the executive branch to choose which laws to follow and which to ignore.  We are not a nation that is anti-immigrant.  On the contrary.  We are a nation containing immigrants who assimilated and became citizens.  Immigrants who valued our culture and liberty.  Immigrants who sacrificed to achieve the American dream.  Immigrants who are privileged to be part of our civil society.   We cannot choose to ignore our immigration laws.  We cannot choose to ignore the rule of law, the Constitution.  Our leaders in particular must abide and enforce these laws.  We cannot and should not allow that style of government.  We are traveling down the path towards fascism if we sit back and act complacently as we watch the rule of law be violated.  For when that happens, it results in the destruction of the civil society.

I would not be surprised if my friends on the left accuse me of fear mongering.  That is not what I am doing.  If that is how you feel, then so be it.  You decide.  In my opinion, it has to be said…
